Premise
Went 0-19 freshman year of wrestling. Dad watched me get pinned in 25 seconds. Two years later, got revenge on the same kid — and the only payoff was a "good job" from the coach.

Version
I wrestled in high school.
My freshman year I went 0-19.
My dad came to one match and saw me get pinned in 25 seconds.
And he was so disappointed. He said: "I drove 49 minutes to watch you last 25 seconds."
And I don't like the words he used.
My coach hated our performance so much that night he made us do 500 sprints in a week.
This kid who pinned me so quickly, he was one year older than me and I started to think about my revenge.
2 years later we matched up again, and I won.
I held a grudge for 2 years and the only payoff I got was a good job from my coach.
Stage notes
- "I don't like the words he used" — let the audience sit with it before moving on - "49 minutes to watch you last 25 seconds" — the math is the joke, don't rush the number - "500 sprints in a week" — the absurdity of this is understated, play it straight - The revenge ending is deliberately anticlimactic — don't signal it, let it land flat
