AI Dating App Therapy

On an AI dating app. It asks "why not?" when you swipe no — which starts to border on therapy. Ends up wanting to call his brother instead of going on a date.

I've been on this AI dating app.

It's kind of sad but not any sadder than regular dating apps.

One interesting thing is that it actually asks me questions about myself. And it tries learning about you to better match you.

So when you say no, it asks you: "Why not?"

And the weirdest part about that is that it starts to border on therapy.

And I've been to therapy before so I know what it's like.

Like I said no recently and when it asked why, I said:

"This person is looking for a family and I'm looking to give it some more time before I'm ready to have that conversation with people."

And then the AI is like:

"Are you close with your family? How often do you talk to your brother? Do you wish you spent more time with him?"

And at this point, I'm not even sure I want to go on a date anymore. I want to see my brother.

What's really disconcerting is that I'm having deeper conversations with the AI than anyone I'm talking to on a dating app.

And that's normal. You shouldn't be talking about this stuff with someone you've never met.

- The AI's follow-up questions should be delivered slowly, one at a time — let the audience realize where it's going - "I want to see my brother" — this is the laugh, but also kind of real. Play it straight. - Last two lines are the thesis — they reframe the whole bit. Don't rush. - Potential to expand: what does he talk about with the people on regular dating apps?
